Same Day Surgery

Modern, minimally invasive procedures with rapid recovery - admitted, treated and discharged the same day.

Same day surgery - also called day-case or outpatient surgery - covers procedures modern enough to admit, treat, and discharge you within a single day, thanks to minimally invasive techniques and improved anaesthesia. It spans everything from hernia repairs and varicose vein treatments to eyelid surgery, bunion correction, and skin lesion excision, with recovery happening at home rather than in a hospital bed.

At Curelia, same day surgery is built around a focused set of minimally invasive procedures - inguinal, femoral and umbilical hernia repairs, ClariVein and sclerotherapy for varicose veins, MICA bunion surgery, trigger finger release, upper eyelid blepharoplasty, and skin excisions. All are delivered in Prague by English-speaking surgeons, with transparent all-in pricing and a coordinator who keeps you informed from consultation through to discharge.

Small Excision (under 10cm)

Same day· €72

A quick, minor procedure to remove a skin lesion, mole or small growth that's cosmetically bothersome, changing in appearance, or simply worth having checked and removed as a precaution. Performed entirely under local anaesthetic in an outpatient setting, with the wound closed using dissolvable or removable stitches depending on location. If there's any clinical concern about the tissue, it's sent for histology (lab analysis) as standard practice - this is priced separately since it's only needed when clinically indicated.

Best for · moles · skin lesions · small growths · precautionary removal
Includes · local anaesthetic excision · wound closure · same-day discharge

Large Excision with Flap Reconstruction

Same day· €208

For lesions too large to close with simple stitches, this procedure combines removal with a local flap reconstruction - repositioning nearby skin and tissue to close the wound cleanly and minimise scarring. Still performed as a same-day outpatient procedure under local anaesthetic, though recovery and wound care take a little longer to manage than a simple excision. As with any removed tissue, histology is available separately if clinically indicated.

Best for · larger lesions · clean closure · minimising scarring
Includes · lesion removal · local flap reconstruction · wound closure

Sclerotherapy - Varicose Veins (1 leg)

Same day· €344

A tried-and-tested vein treatment where a solution is injected directly into smaller varicose or spider veins, causing them to collapse and gradually fade from view as the body reabsorbs them over following weeks. No incisions, no anaesthesia beyond the injections themselves, and no real downtime - most patients are back to normal activity the same day, aside from wearing compression stockings for a short period as advised. A good option for smaller surface veins rather than larger, deeper varicosity (which are better suited to ClariVein, below).

Best for · smaller surface varicose/spider veins · no-incision option · quick recovery
Includes · injection-based vein closure · compression guidance

Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty (both eyes)

Same day· €621

Removes excess, sagging skin (and sometimes fat) from the upper eyelids - done purely for a fresher, more open-eyed appearance, or medically where drooping skin has started to encroach on the visual field. Performed under local anaesthetic as a same-day outpatient procedure with fine, well-concealed incisions along the natural eyelid crease. Visible bruising and swelling typically resolve within about a week, after which the results - a noticeably more open, alert look - are long-lasting.

Best for · sagging eyelid skin · refreshed appearance · visual-field correction
Includes · upper eyelid skin/fat removal · fine concealed incisions · same-day discharge

ClariVein - Varicose Veins (1 leg)

Same day· €1,471

A modern, minimally invasive alternative to traditional vein stripping surgery for larger varicose veins. A thin catheter is inserted into the vein and combines mechanical agitation with a medicated solution to close the vein from the inside - no surgical cuts, no stitches, and no general anaesthetic needed. Because it's so much less invasive than traditional surgery, recovery is fast: most patients walk out the same day and resume normal activity within a day or two, wearing compression stockings for support during healing.

Best for · larger varicose veins · no-cuts/no-general-anaesthetic option · fast recovery
Includes · rotating catheter + medicated vein closure · compression guidance

Trigger Finger Release

Same day· €1,687

Trigger finger happens when a flexor tendon in the finger becomes inflamed and catches as it tries to glide through its sheath, causing the finger to lock, click or snap when bending or straightening. This procedure releases the tight part of the tendon sheath through a small incision at the base of the finger, restoring smooth movement immediately. Done under local anaesthetic as a day case; most patients regain full use of the hand within a couple of weeks, with light activity possible almost right away.

Best for · locked/catching finger tendon · restoring smooth finger movement
Includes · tendon sheath release via small incision · local anaesthetic · same-day discharge

Umbilical / Epigastric Hernia Repair

1 night· €1,412

Repairs a hernia where tissue or part of the intestine pushes through a weak point in the abdominal wall near the navel or just above it - often noticeable as a bulge that's more prominent when straining, coughing, or standing. The weakened area is repaired and reinforced (with mesh if clinically appropriate) through a small incision, under general or regional anaesthetic. Because it involves an abdominal procedure, an overnight hospital stay is standard for monitoring before discharge the following day.

Best for · bulge near navel/upper abdomen · reinforcing the abdominal wall
Includes · hernia repair (mesh if appropriate) · overnight hospital stay · discharge guidance

Inguinal / Femoral Hernia Repair

1 night· €1,849

The most common type of hernia, where tissue pushes through a weak spot in the groin (inguinal) or upper thigh (femoral) area. Repaired surgically, typically with a mesh reinforcement to give a durable, low-recurrence result, under general or regional anaesthetic. As with other hernia repairs, an overnight stay is standard practice for post-operative monitoring, with most patients back to light activity within a couple of weeks and full recovery over 4–6 weeks.

Best for · groin/upper-thigh hernia · the most common hernia type · durable low-recurrence repair
Includes · mesh hernia repair · overnight hospital stay · discharge guidance

Hernia Repair with Mesh/Implant

1 night· €2,517

A more robust hernia repair using surgical mesh to reinforce a larger defect or a hernia that has recurred after a previous repair - situations where the abdominal wall needs extra structural support to prevent it happening again. Slightly more involved than a standard repair, but still performed as day surgery with an overnight stay for monitoring. Mesh repairs have a well-established, long safety record and significantly lower recurrence rates than repairs without reinforcement.

Best for · larger hernias · recurrence after a previous repair · extra structural support
Includes · mesh-reinforced hernia repair · overnight hospital stay · discharge guidance

MICA Bunion Surgery

Same day· €2,397

MICA (Minimally Invasive Chevron and Akin) is a modern keyhole approach to bunion correction, performed through a few tiny incisions rather than the large open incision traditional bunion surgery requires. The bone is repositioned and fixed internally with small screws, and because soft tissue disruption is minimal, patients typically experience less pain, less swelling and a faster return to walking than with traditional (open) bunion surgery. Usually done under regional anaesthetic with a light cast or supportive shoe worn during the initial healing period.

Best for · bunion deformity · less scarring · faster return to walking
Includes · minimally invasive chevron + akin correction · internal screw fixation · light cast/supportive shoe

An admin fee (€144) applies to select procedures and pre-operative exams are sourced externally - always confirmed during your enquiry, never a surprise at check-in.
